Infertility/Menopause

Hormonal Balance

Acupuncture has been found to have a balancing effect on the endocrine system.  Research findings support that Acupuncture supports homeostasis in the body and brings hormones to more normal ranges.  The nature of female hormones is to cycle into different phases.  Ideally, these phases and fluxuations should flow in a balanced way.  Stress is a major culprit for issues like PMS, irregular menses and hot flashes.

Infertility

Acupuncture has been used sucessfully to promote fertility and to maintain a healthy pregnancy.  Medical studies show that acupuncture and chinese herbs increase blood flow to ovaries and uterus, stimulate ovulation and improve egg quality.  In men, acupuncture and chinesse herbs can increase sperm count and mobility.  Acupuncture can also address more serious fertility concerns including western diagnosis like PCOS, endrometriosis, uterine fibroids and elevated FSH levels.  Acupuncture can also dramatically increase the sucess of western fertility treatments including IUI, IVF and other ART treatments.

Menopause

Acupuncture and herbal medicine supports a smooth transition during this shift in the female lifecycle.  The decrease in estrogen may cause a miscommunication to the hypothalamus that the body is too cold and stimulate too much heat in the body.  The Oriental Medicine perspective views this similarly, as the change in the body can create a mis-communication and acupucture and Chinese Herbs help "re-direct the traffic" or support "training new body function."  It is highly recommended to seek support and not suffer with hot flashes and night sweats for a prolonged period of time.  Excess heat and sweating perpetuates the depletion of "yin" fluids and fire "yang" flaring up.  Acupuncture and herbs also support mood, energy and memory issues associated with menopause.
